FOO and Fundación Paraguaya Join Forces to Combat Poverty Through Innovation
Earlier this year, the Fondation Orient-Occident (FOO) launched a meaningful partnership with Fundación Paraguaya, an internationally recognized NGO founded in 1985 in Paraguay. The collaboration centers around the implementation of the Poverty Stoplight, a groundbreaking social innovation tool designed to help families assess and overcome multidimensional poverty. Used by over 800 organizations in 59 countries, the tool breaks poverty down into 50 indicators across six key dimensions, each evaluated through a simple red-yellow-green color system. Families, guided by trained mentors, are empowered to visualize their living conditions, identify challenges, and create personalized strategies for improvement.
The FOO has introduced the Poverty Stoplight in two regions of Morocco—Dcheir and El-Haouz—where it is active in community development. This tool has enabled the Foundation to generate precise data and implement tailored interventions, while strengthening families’ roles as active agents in their own development.
In September 2024, Yasmina Filali, President of the Fondation Orient-Occident, was invited to participate in the Cerrito Forum in Asunción, Paraguay, where she took part in an inspiring panel discussion titled “How to Combat Poverty.” The event, organized by Fundación Paraguaya, highlighted innovative strategies for social transformation. Filali shared the Foundation’s experience in applying the Poverty Stoplight in Morocco, showing how this methodology can enhance local empowerment and foster a more dignified, sustainable path out of poverty.
